Test 1- Major supporting details are more specific than main ideas. Minor supporting details are more specific than major details.

3. Outlining is a way to show at glance the relationship between a main ideas and its major details and minor details.
4. In maps , you create a visual outline using circles boxes and other shapes to set off main ideas and supporting details
5. When taking notes on textbook material, you will often find it useful to write out each definition in full and then select and one example that definition in full and then select and summarizing one examples of that definition.

1.Major detail-2. The sex offenders affects the severity of sentences.
Minor details- a.3. A woman less likely to receive death penalty than a man.

Minor detail-a.Non whites awarded parole and probation less often.

Main idea-1.Serious depression , as opposed to the fleeting kind we all feel at times, has definite warning signs.
1.3-The symptom of depression is a change in sleep patterns-either sleeplessness or sleeping too much.
2.4-Another sign is abnormal eating patterns, either eating too much or loss of appetite.
3.5-The third sign is trouble in thing or concentrating -even to the point of finding it difficult to read a magazine or newspaper .
4.6. The general feeling of hopelessness may signal depression

Main Idea:1-There are three common ways that people deal with their feelings.
Major supporting details-
1.2-One way is to withhold them-to keep them inside without giving any verbal or nonverbal clues to their existence.
2.4-The second and often more appropriate way deal with feeling is to display them-...body language.
3.7-Often the best method of dealing with feelings is to describe them.....non judgmental way.
